Appropriate clinical environments and up-to-date equipment are important components of successful medical care delivery. With the Silver Spring redevelopment project underway, and the CCI-WIC function moved to Aspen Hill last year, the current location at Progress Place is not as populated as it has been. CCI acquired funding from the U.S.D.A. to expand the WIC facility at the Takoma/Langley Health Center, and expects the new space to open in early 2005. This new space will accommodate the high volume of WIC participants, includes more space for 12 health services exam rooms (four currently) and will reintroduce adult services to the location. The renovated site will serve the increasing number of families in a highly diverse, mostly minority locality.
