Baby receives health services.

The earliest visit for a healthy newborn to be examined by a doctor is two weeks after birth. While her mom helps this little one not wiggle too much on the scale, the staff has already collated the medical chart and made the arrangements for her to be seen as a regular patient at CCI for life. This year, of the total 7,213 children and adults who are patients at Community Clinic, 93% are identified as minority. Life and health at CCI is all about addressing disparities, and patients and staff are asked every year in satisfaction surveys to comment and implement strategies to remove disparities in every aspect of patient care. Treating everyone with respect, and offering health care they need are two undeniable tenets. Each year, CCI provides well-baby care for more than 1,000 newborn babies from the Holy Cross Hospital program for uninsured mothers.

  • Shared results of research about healthcare for underserved populations and discussed the implications for CCI activities.
  • Discussed national health literacy initiatives and their applicability to CCI’s mission.
  • Monitored results of various audits of CCI records and the actions taken as a result of audit findings.
  • Discussed the new 340B discount pharmaceutical program available to CCI patients.
  • Provided oversight for CCI policy changes.
  • Reviewed staff training programs.
  • Provided oversight for CCI-WIC’s highly regarded service to record-breaking numbers of mothers, infants, and children.
