Sandra Rubio, WIC staff at the Freeland Health
Center, expressed surprise when Charlene Pe-Gerharz and Mark Langlais
presented her with a certificate for performing CPR and saving a
child’s life in the waiting room of the health center. “I
was only doing my job,” she explained. Sandra noticed the
child was on the floor and not breathing when she jumped from her
desk chair to the rescue. The little one began breathing after a
few minutes of CPR. Staff training in safety procedures is a top
priority at CCI. Compliance with high JCAHO standards are taken
seriously and practiced regularly. Thank you, Sandra, for doing
a good job on the job!

Finance Committee
Leo Fishel, Treasurer
John Domaleski, Chief Financial Officer
During the year, the Finance Committee met monthly
to provide direction, review and oversight of CCI’s financial
statements, operations, and internal controls. Some of the
Committee activities were:
- Recommended a detailed review of the Patient
Accounts Receivable in an effort to reduce the time in processing
to fewer than 60 days in accounts receivable. At the end
of the fiscal year, the time was a record 43.44 days.
- Recommended a laddered investment strategy
of depositing excess cash into equal recurring Certificates of
Deposit. Increased the corporate rate of return on investments
to five percent at the year’s end.
- Monitored the payment of the Medicaid FY04
advance of $121,109 completed during FY06, and the agreement to
pay back Priority Partners MCO FY04 an advance of $91,200
in July 2006.
- Saw the successful implementation of a Fixed
Asset Sub Ledger software product in FY06.
- Reorganized the billing function and department
staff structure to enhance revenue and streamline procedures.
