Medical Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant will have personal interest and/or experience in a clinical setting and will perform clinical and administrative tasks for both Pediatric and Adult patients under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. All administrative functions will be evaluated by the Clinic Manager. The Medical Assistant will be evaluated by the Clinic Manager in collaboration with the supervising physician(s) for their respective clinics.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepares and gathers all supplies
2. Performs the log of sterilized instruments
3. Prepare patients for procedures on demand
4. Re-stock specialty service carts in procedure rooms
5. Perform stock rotation daily
6. Assists with inventory cycle counts weekly

REQUIRED SKILLS OR ABILITIES

1. Knowledge of sterile procedures
2. Knowledge of cleaning specifications of various medical equipment, fixtures, utensils and related materials.
3. Knowledge of supplies, equipment and /or maintain quality control standards.
4. Ability to safety utilizes cleaning solvents and related products.
5. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
6. Ability to monitor and /or maintain quality control standards.
7. Data entry skills
8. Ability to maintain quality, safety, and / or infection control standards.
9. Knowledge of methods, procedures and protocols for the handling and disposal of hazardous biochemical waste products.
10. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations and guidelines for the disposal of hazardous waste.
11. Ability to lead and train staff.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE OR LICENSURE/REGISTRATION

1. High School Diploma or its equivalent
2. Satisfactory completion of Medical Assistant and/or Nursing Program.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
2. Standing and /or walking for more then eight (8) hours per day.
3. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
4. The employee will be working within a controlled enclosed environment daily.
5. They will be required to wear scrubs, hair covers, shoe covers and occasionally protective barrier clothing during training. This can become uncomfortable in a warm, high humidity room. There is risk due to working within an environment with high temperature equipment, unpleasant odors, and noise of equipment in operation.
