Breastfeeding Support Group

Monthly support groups are offered to moms who are breastfeeding their babies. This information session is an opportunity for breastfeeding moms to share their experiences and provide assistance. The purpose of this breastfeeding class is for participants to support each other and to promote improved success with breastfeeding their infants. Participants share their positive and negative experiences with others in similar situations, so they are able to see that they are not alone in their experience and to receive and assist other moms in their breastfeeding journeys.

When moms come to the support group, it is around the time of their infant's one month birthday. At this time, we celebrate mom's one month of successful breastfeeding with a small birthday party. WIC staff will weigh each infant to further encourage the moms and to help them understand that breastfeeding is the best nutrition for their babies.
